Dr. Marty Tashman
My best credential is that I am happily married, to Roberta (who is listed below) and have been with her for over 20 years. Together we work on the YMC practice.
Most relationships can be “fixed.” By using the knowledge gained during counseling, and being consistent with practicing what you will learn, you will be able to come together and capture that special feeling that having a close relationship brings to your life.
I believe that combining compassion and common sense, with formal training and experience, is the most effective way to help couples handle the challenges that they face.
Problems can be resolved by practicing new skills that you will learn in each meeting. Our goal is to bring you and your partner closer to together, by learning:
- Better communication skills
- How to deal with anger
- How to negotiate so that both of you feel good about the outcome
You will then have all the tools to build a strong connection and relationship with your significant other.
In addition to my 34 years of experience, I hold 2 Masters Degrees, and I have a license as a Clinical Social Worker and as a Marriage and Family Therapist.
I also have a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.
I have written five books on relationships
To find out more about my books you can click on the titles below.

- can’t seem to have a discussion with your partner without it ending up in anger
- love your partner but really don’t like them
If you can relate to the any of the three statements above, and want the best chance or maybe your last chance at turning things around, consider The Jump Start Session.
I would be considered an out of network provider, and reimbursement would be based on the terms of your policy. You would pay at time of service and you would then get a receipt to submit to your carrier.
We discourage cancellations, but if due to an emergency situation we ask that clients please notify us (either Roberta or myself), 48 hours prior to their appointment, if they need to change or cancel it.
Thank you very much for your cooperation,

Roberta Cohen Tashman, Office Manager – (Dr. Marty’s Wife)
I have worked with my husband for eight years, and have marketed his practice and helped with the administrative responsibilities. I also have taken an active role in the development of his website and articles that he has written. I like to think that I add a female perspective to his practice, and help him see things from a woman’s point of view as well.
Currently, I am involved with scheduling and confirming appointments, editing and co-developing programs, and all the details that are involved with running a busy practice. And most importantly, I am dedicated to helping our clients to be as comfortable as possible with the counseling process.
If you would like to schedule an appointment, or would like further information about our practice, you can reach me at 732-564-7722 Monday – Friday 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM. I look forward to speaking with you.

It is devastating when a marriage or relationship is falling apart. Maybe everyday stressors such as work, parenting, in-laws or financial issues get taken out on each other which leave both of you feeling emotionally exhausted and disconnected from each other. You might even be ready to give up on the marriage or relationship.
One of the best ways to turn things around is to get professional guidance as soon as you can, so that you can learn specific skills to resolve your relationship difficulties, and bring you closer together again. Counseling can guide you in the right direction by helping you with communication skills, resentment and anger issues, as well as how to negotiate and compromise with respect and love. Read More…
